Hydration drinks

Electrolyte and hydration drinks replenish the fluids and electrolytes lost through sweating. They are especially useful in hot conditions, during heavy sweating, and in training sessions where you want to separate hydration from energy intake.

Check the product label specifically for the amount of sodium per serving, the recommended water dilution, and whether the drink contains carbohydrates. Hydration needs and sweat sodium concentration vary by individual, so the same dosage does not automatically suit everyone.

Read our guide on electrolytes and sodium. If you also need a significant amount of carbohydrates during your performance, compare sports drinks and electrolyte drinks.

Plan your fueling: Compare a carbohydrate-containing sports drink with a lower-energy electrolyte drink and separate fuel sources using the FuturePeaks Energy Calculator.
