Coenzyme Q10 capsules

Coenzyme Q10 (or ubiquinone-10) is an important part of the body's metabolism and is involved in numerous body functions. It is, among other things, an essential part of mitochondria, which are responsible for the energy production of cells. Therefore, organs that consume a lot of energy, such as the heart, liver and muscles, contain a lot of coenzyme Q10. However, with age, the body's own production of Q10 decreases significantly. The heart suffers particularly much from this: an 80-year-old has only about 60% of the amount of Q10 in their heart that a 20-year-old has.

Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to vitamins K and E. However, unlike them, Q10 is not an essential nutrient, as the body can normally produce it itself. However, as mentioned, production decreases with age, so taking Q10 as a dietary supplement may be beneficial after the age of 40.
